November 15th marks the start of DCASE Workshop 2021 with a full week of virtual keynotes, poster sessions, panels and town hall discussions.

This year, I feel honoured and excited to have been invited to take part in the Industry Panel discussion alongside other experts from Qualcomm, Dolby, Hitachi, and a moderator from Adobe. The goal of the panel is to facilitate conversations between industry and academia on DCASE topics, discuss the needs and requirements of audio understanding from an industry perspective, and inform the community about DCASE-related work in the industry.

The topics for discussion will be sourced from the DCASE community. They can be submitted before the event here or during the panel session, so be sure to join us on Thursday 18th November. You can check out the full program for DCASE Workshop 2021 here.

We are proud that this year marks the fifth year of our sponsorship of the DCASE Workshop, which sees us joining other sponsors such as Bose, Apple, Google, Facebook, and others. DCASE plays an important part in bringing together the community of researchers from many different universities and companies worldwide, with interest in the topic of sound recognition, and provides the opportunity for the exchange of ideas and opinions.

We were also proud to have scientifically contributed towards the DCASE Challenge earlier this year, as ‘Task 4: Sound event detection and separation in domestic environments’ included our Polyphonic Sound Detection Score (PSDS) as the primary evaluation metric for the task, which you can read about here.

If you are a researcher that is interested or are working on aspects of environmental sound classification and detection, you can join the DCASE community here.
