We are excited to announce that for the third year running we are sponsoring the DCASE Workshop, alongside Facebook, IBM Research, Mitsubishi Electric and others.

This year’s annual workshop and challenge are being hosted at New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering, on the 25-26th October in New York City, USA.

DCASE (Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events) is the world’s leading peer-based sound recognition community, encouraging academia and industry to collaborate and share research on the detection and classification of acoustic scenes and events. The workshop programme includes an exciting line-up of speakers, a poster presentation of accepted papers and there will be a separate poster session dedicated to the DCASE challenge entries.

DCASE invite submissions on topics of computational analysis of acoustic scenes and sound events. Further information and important dates can be found here.

We proudly sponsor DCASE as the workshop plays an important part in bringing together the community of researchers from many different universities and companies worldwide, with interest in the topic of sound recognition, and provides the opportunity for the exchange of ideas and opinions.

“Attention for sound recognition as a research topic has grown drastically over the past three years, as evidenced by the rapid increase in number of technical publications in that field. DCASE plays a prime role in federating a global research community around this research topic. By defining a set of open benchmark tasks and data sets new early stage ideas and algorithms can be evaluated and ranked. And through the workshop research results, new techniques and opinions can be shared and discussed amongst peers. We are proud to have the opportunity to participate and contribute in this area of research, we fully support this type of initiative.” comments Sacha Krstulovic, Audio Analytic’s Director of AALabs (the company’s R&D division) and member of the DCASE steering group.

If you are a researcher that is interested or are working on aspects of environmental sound classification and detection, you can join the DCASE community here.
